Japanese Culture
Grade 9 - 12
This is an informative unit that teaches about Japanese history and culture through the use of hands-on activities. Two lessons are centered on educational games and the third lesson gives excellent information of Japanese feudalism. This unit offers lesson plans, handouts, quizzes, questions and a host of other activities.

LESSON 1: THE DEVELOPMENT OF JAPANESE CULTURE
This lesson's purpose is to acquaint the student with the chronological development of Japanese society. This lesson is designed round a board game. There are several handouts, the charts for the board game and a quiz supplied.

LESSON 2: FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS: JAPAN

This lesson seeks to teach the importance of reading and following direction through the study of Japanese geography. This lesson is centered on a game in which groups of four will attempt to fill in the parts of a map of Japan using an atlas. There is a lesson plan and two handouts supplied.

LESSON 3: JAPAN: FEUDALISM
This lesson introduces students to the historical background of Japanese civilization and it also compares the system of feudalism that developed in Europe to Japanese feudalism. There is a lesson plan offered, two handouts and summary questions.
