1. ___ O Children of Israel! Call to mind the special favor which
I bestowed upon you, and that I preferred you to all others.
2. ___ And remember, We delivered you from the people of Pharoah:
they set you hard tasks and punishments, slaughtered your sons and let
your women live... and remember, We divided the sea for you, saved you
and drowned Pharoah's people within your very sight.
3. ___ Say 0 Muslims: We believe in God and that which is revealed
unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac,
and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and Jesus received, and
that which the Prophets received from their Lord. We make no distinction
between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered.
4. ___ Behold! the angels said, "0 Mary! God hath chosen thee and
purified thee; chosen thee above the women of all nations."
5. ___ And I have come to you to attest the Torah which was before
me and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you. I have
come to you with a sign from your Lord. So fear God, and obey me.
6. ___ Behold! the angels said, "0 Mary giveth thee glad tidings
of a word from Him: his name will be Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, held
in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of the com an of those nearest
to God."
7. ___ She said, "0 my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man
hath touched me?" He said, "Even so, God createth what He will. When He
hath decreed a plan, He but Saith to it 'Be,' and it is."
8. ___ But said the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, "0 children of
Israel! Worship God, my Lord and your Lord."
9. ___ But when he came to the fire, a voice was heard from the
right bank of the valley, from a tree in hallowed ground, "0 Moses! Verily
I am God, the Lord of the worlds. Now do thou throw thy rod! " But when
he saw it moving of its own accord as if it had been a snake, he turned
back in retreat.
10. ___ And We sent Noah and Abraham, and established in their
line Prophethood and Revelation; and some of them were on right guidance,
but many of them became rebellious transgressors.
