MY FAVORITE EXPERIENCE in CHINA

My favorite experience in china was visiting middle school number 15. It gave me the opportunity to interact with students of my age and see how they spent their days. It was an extremely interesting experience for me because in America students are very vocal in the classrooms and often easily express their opinions. But while visiting a classroom at middle school number15, the students were very quiet and maybe even a bit shy. I thought this was because of us, the visitors, but after talking to the teacher who taught in Colorado for a year, I found out that this was normal in a Chinese classroom. I talked with the students who all spoke good English and I was able to find out their personal lives. First they showed me their notebooks and they were very advanced in science and math. Then when I asked if they had favorite movie stars and things of that sort and they all seemed to became quiet again. The teacher then explained to me that most of the students spend more than 12 hours a day on school and schoolwork and are not having time for social life, but after a while I got them to open up and I even got one student to sing a song she wrote. That was amazing!

After my visit to the classroom, I was taken to lunch by the students who refused to let me pay for anything. The food was great and after we finished eating the students threw all their scraps in a bucket that will be reused. I had a chance to play a game of basketball with a few of the guys who turned out to be very good unexpectedly. After the game it was time to leave but I really didn't want to leave. But before we left, we, all of the members from our group sang a Chinese song we learned to show our appreciation. For a long time since we departed, the image of the students from that school remained in my mind.
